Project “Enabling Access to Justice” is a step towards Social Inclusion of Women, Children, and Marginalized Section in the field of Legal Justice and reach to Legal Aid. The Project “Enabling Access to Justice” is an initiative to strengthen the system through Stakeholders like DLSA, Paralegal Volunteers, Elected Women Representatives (EWRs), Policing System and Villages or Communities.
The Project’s sole purpose is to create Legal Awareness among the people of Villages and to build their trust in Legal Entities and in the “Rule of Law” through providing them the Legal Support. The project would enable Legal Justice Awareness amongst the people, i.e., the selected Community Justice Workers (CJWs) and Community Paralegal Volunteers to sustain the project and to provide legal protection to the Marginalized Population. Apart from this, the Stakeholders should also be strengthened to successfully implement the project amongst the needy. Justice should be accessible and distributed fairly in the communities and their rights should be availed by them. This would be the sole purpose of the project. The awareness would be inculcated in the minds of people and the stakeholders through training, stakeholder meetings and handholding support for legal cases in the community.
WHY THIS PROJECT WOULD BE A MILESTONE FOR ENABLING ACCESS TO JUSTICE IN THE VILLAGES.
This unique project “Enabling Access to Justice” would be a milestone to empower women to exercise their rights, achieve active citizenship, challenge gender-based discrimination, and seek redressal against gender-based violence.
The project would also contribute to the achievements of Sustainable Development Goal No.1 (No Poverty) by addressing the barriers faced by the Marginalized People in Access to Justice. By providing Legal Aid and Support, the project would also help people to overcome their economic obstacles and seek redressal for gender-based violence; this will ultimately reduce poverty among the Vulnerable Group.
Goal No.5 (Gender Equality) by promoting Legal Awareness among women and providing them Free Legal Aid through DLSA to achieve Access to Justice. Additionally, the project would support Goal No.10 (Reduced Inequalities) by focusing on Marginalized Sections of the Society, by providing them the Legal Aid and Justice to ensure equitable access to Rights and Opportunities. Also by strengthening the Legal System and promoting Social Inclusion, the project would play a crucial role in advancing Social Equality and reducing inequalities.
Goal No.16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), the project would also play a significant role in promoting Access to Justice for all. It would strengthen the Legal System by raising Legal Awareness and providing Legal Assistance, thus contributing to the development of effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all Levels. By empowering people to exercise their rights and challenge the gender-based discrimination, the project further fosters an inclusive society.
Furthermore, the Project aligns Goal No.17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by emphasizing Collaboration and Co-operation. It works in partnership with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Law Enforcement, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and other Stakeholders in the communities to provide Legal Help to the Marginalized Community, demonstrating the importance of Multi-Stakeholder Engagement in achieving sustainable development. By leveraging partnerships and mobilizing resource effectively, the project would also enhance its impact on the larger population and its sustainability.
